Know what your software is worth, from £99, in under 20 minutes
You built the software. What it is worth is still an assumption, yours. Starter replaces it with an independent figure: a Certified Software Valuation of your codebase, produced by a third party in under 20 minutes.
It is the same engine and the same seven technical dimensions that produce our public valuations of well-known open-source projects. The depth of the read is identical on every tier. What changes between tiers is what you can do with the result once you have it.

The report
What you receive.
A Production Readiness Score from 0 to 100, with its band: Excellent (80 to 100), Good (60 to 79), Fair (50 to 59) or Weak (below 50). Under the score, a breakdown across the seven technical dimensions (Security, Code Quality, Dependencies, Documentation, Observability, Test Coverage and Error Handling), each with the specific findings that moved the number.
Alongside it, the Technical and Economic Valuation: an economic range for what your codebase would cost to rebuild today, adjusted for team size, location and AI adoption. Not a multiple, not a comparable. A figure derived from what is actually in your repository.
All of it in a report you download and keep.

Method
How the number is produced.
Each of the seven technical dimensions is measured against evidence in your code, not against an opinion of whether the code is good. Together they produce the Production Readiness Score. The eighth dimension, Economic, is derived from those seven: the stronger the technical evidence, the tighter and higher the economic range sits.
Every Codeego analysis is reproducible, on every tier. The static metrics are computed by purpose-built tools rather than inferred (complexity by radon, security surface by Semgrep, the dependency graph read straight from your manifests), and the AI layer runs at temperature zero with a fixed seed, its judgements clamped to ranges the hard metrics justify. Same code in, same numbers out.
What Starter does not have is the deterministic valuation formula behind the economic figure. Here the range is an AI-assisted estimate, calibrated against the evidence in your code but not computed in code. On Expert it is.
Access is read-only, your code is never retained, and the analysis runs in isolation from your production systems.
Fit
When to choose Starter.
When you need the number before anyone else does. Before the fundraise, so you walk in knowing it rather than improvising. Before the board meeting. Before deciding what to rebuild and what to keep. On code you inherited, outsourced, or acquired and never really looked at.
The report is yours and you can share it with whoever you like. It is an independent analysis by a third party, not a self-assessment, and it reads like one.
Limits
When Starter is not enough.
What Starter does not carry is the Evidence Certificate: no independent seal, no time stamp, no chain of custody. So you can send the report to an investor, but you cannot prove to them when it was produced or that nothing in it was edited afterwards. For a conversation, that is usually fine. For a data room, it is not.
Select qualified custody and your valuation becomes Pro, sealed by a Trusted Third Party. Same analysis, same seven dimensions, same report, now dated and independently verifiable.
If somebody is going to check your figure against a standard (SOC 2, OWASP ASVS, the control language their own function reports to), that is Expert.
Best for: founders, freelancers and engineering teams who want an honest, independent read before their next decision.

Frequently asked questions.
An independent technical and economic valuation of a codebase. Seven technical dimensions are measured against evidence in the code and produce a Production Readiness Score from 0 to 100. An eighth dimension, Economic, is derived from them and expressed as a rebuild range. Certified means the figure is produced by a third party rather than self-reported by the owner of the asset.
Yes, on every tier, and it is on by default. At checkout you can untick it if all you need is the technical valuation. Either way the price is the same.
Pro is Starter with qualified custody switched on. The valuation is identical: same engine, same seven dimensions, same economic range. What Pro adds is an Evidence Certificate, where the report and its supporting evidence are sealed by a Trusted Third Party in a qualified digital preservation vault, with a verifiable time stamp and an auditable chain of custody.
Select qualified custody on a Starter valuation and it becomes Pro. There is no add-on to buy separately and no second report to reconcile.
Starter is a number for you. Pro is a number for other people.
No. Access is read-only, with no write permissions, and your code is not retained after the valuation. Analysis runs sandboxed, in isolation from your live systems.
Under 20 minutes from repository connection to downloadable report.
The size of the repository you upload. The first gigabyte is included in the £99.
Challenge it. If a factor is off because the analysis could not see something you can point to in your code, you raise it. The model reads the challenge to check it is coherent and grounded in evidence: it does not decide your figure. Where the challenge stands, the analysis is re-run at no cost, and both versions of the case are kept, the original and the revised, so what changed is on the record rather than quietly replaced.
This is on every tier, Starter included. A valuation you cannot question is a valuation nobody has any reason to trust.
No. An analysis cannot be re-run once it has finished, so moving to Pro or Expert means a new analysis at that tier's price. Your Starter report stays valid and yours.
We would rather tell you this before you buy than after. If you already know the report is going to leave your organisation, start at Pro: adding qualified custody now costs £100, and buying it later costs another full valuation.
